Musicians who "Play for Free" for exposure are hurting other musicians who are trying to earn a living.

Protect yourself and others by using contracts for your gigs and stick to the deal!
Do not support venues who exploit local talent. Think of it, if you go to a local jam at a community center or a friends house, that's great! That is good exposure! However when you go to a Jam Night at a COMMERCIAL venue that sells alcohol and food, that ESTABLISHMENT is exploiting local musicians for their own profit, using musicians to attract customers, but not paying you. You as a musician going out jamming at a bar/restaurant/club, thinking this is good exposure, are in effect hurting other musicians as well as yourself!.
DO NOT JAM IN COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS FOR FREE!
